FAMILIES IN MOTION: Workshop Topics

Posted by andrea.davis on February 8, 2017 at 2:25 PM Comments comments (0)

Families In Motion

Families in Motion is a program developed by the school social worker to support education by providing workshops on different areas of learning. Families in Motion will meet every other month and will serve to provide guidance and support to families in areas relating to behavioral management, development, and school-based information.

Families in Motion has two specific functions. The first function is a support group. Families will be able to provide and receive feedback from their parenting peers by way of ideas and suggestions on how to support their child. The second function of the group is educational. Families will have the opportunity to learn different topics that support the educational process, provide interventions and strategies to support behavioral problems, and learn about community based programming and mental health literacy.

Are you interested in a particular topic?

Do you want to learn more in a certain area such as behavioral supports, potty training, or how to help your student learn a new skill?

Let me know what you want. As the social worker, I am committed to bringing you workshops that are informative and supportive in the learning process for you and your student.

Are you and your family in transition?  Have you had to leave your home for any reason? Are you in a temporary living situation and want your child to continue to attend school?  Do you have a foster child living in your home?  Well I am here to help.  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you may be qualified for McKinney-Vento services.  Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act your child/student has the right to be enrolled and participate in school.  For more information see me, your building liaison.  Don't feel comfortable talking to me.  You can always reach your local liaison, Chad Holloway or Nicole Clayton at 302-697-2173. Help is here.
